Kristin Harila striving for the top. What does this say for the world of female Alpinists
Norwegian climber Kristin Harila is working hard to set the world 14 Peaks speed title in record time.
This is an incredible feat all on its own but must be extra challenging with all the social media naysayers to pick apart your every step on the journey.
Maybe a bigger question is why when women enter a male-dominated world there seem to be such strong opinions. I am reminded of a famous Canadian climber Sharon Wood and how she was treated in the mountain community after her historic ascent of Mount Everest. Here is a great article from the Calgary Herald with Sharon about this time and her reflections now. Sharon also wrote a book, RISING back in 2019 on this if you want to explore more.
