Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Fest
And so it begins! The 10th Annual Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Fest starts today! Hosted in the “powder mecca of Kootenays” at Whitewater Ski Resort, near Nelson, BC. The Powder Fest was created to “provide a grass-roots gathering where mountain enthusiasts of all levels can celebrate our local culture…” Backcountry ski/split clinics, inbounds clinics, race & slopestyle competitions, demos and socials and more will be happening throughout the weekend. My favorite events include the backcountry Olympics where competitors showcase their backcountry travel, rescue and survival skills for points and the King & Queen of Coldsmoke, which is awarded to the royal male and female who do the best in the 4 contests.
