Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine
Kootenay Mountain Culture (KMC) Magazine is a biannual publication based in Nelson, BC. Created in 2002 the words and photographs inspire, compliment, and dissect life in the mountains. You can find tales and photos of local legends, photographers, pioneers and athletes doing what they do best. KMC focuses much of its content on the region in which it is distributed, the Pacific Northwest, but also covers similar culture & lifestyles around the globe, giving incite and inspiration to travel and exploration. KMC and its sister mag CMC (Coast Mountain Culture) both have high print quality and content, and best of all is free! If you can’t grab one from your local outdoor retail shop, check them out online at mountainculturegroup.com or snag one from a backcountry lodge this winter.
The Winter 2015/16 "Holy Issue" has just hit the streets in Nelson, BC this week, and I traditionally (or religiously) picked up a copy, crack a cold Faceplant beer and leaf threw the 152 pages of awe inspiring photographs. The adverts, photos and articles have now shifted from grassy meadows and rocky peaks of the summer issue to snow covered mountains, ski lodges, touring and coldsmoke… I savour the winter issues because I know it will be another year before I can get another one.
