Mount Carlyle Lodge has the goods
The Backcountry Skiing Canada Crew is spending the week up at Mount Carlyle Lodge trying to find the last hurrah of winter after a season that has been less than memorable. So far we have experienced spring like temps with good corn skiing over the first two days but winter finally made a return appearance with 20cm falling over night. Given that it was April Fools day however, the reported storm snow total was hard to actually find in the field. On our last run of the day down Misty Peak to the Lodge we were finally rewarded with the full 20cm, sunshine and smiles all around.

Given that Mount Carlyle Lodge sits at 7,200’ the weather up here is quite different from that in the neighbouring valley towns of Kaslo and Nelson. While they are basking in +12°C we have maintained below freezing temps all day with a further accumulation of snow which should prove to make the rest of our week even better. Check back for another update of our adventures up here at Mount Carlyle Lodge as there is another winter storm forecast for Friday through Sunday and this time there will be no April Fools jokes.
If you are looking to samples some of the last days of winter give Brian (also know as the Bald Bomber) a call as he has a few spaces left for the final week of skiing starting April 5th for just $500 for the week. This includes a heli in, but you’ll have to ski out. For all the details on the lodge have a read of our review of Mount Carlyle here.
