PHOTO COMP- Summit Dreams
Spring had arrived in Revelstoke. A season full of little sun and much snow was, in my mind drawing to an end. I was talking with a friend of mine about a three day trip he had booked at the Asulkan Cabin in Rogers Pass. He talked of summiting Youngs Peak and skiing the Forever Young chute. This I thought sounded like a good time. "Any spots left" I asked. "Ahh sorry no" was the answer. Bummer I thought.
I got his call around five o'clock the night before they were due to leave. I was in. We never did get to summit Youngs Peak, but winter was back, dumping around 70cm for us to enjoy. We lapped blower pow in the trees below the hut away from the avalanche danger up above. Instead of enjoying the beers we dragged up to the hut in the sun, we huddled in the hut playing card and dice games hoping the wind would drop and the next day would be clear. It never did clear, but as you can see we weren't complaining.
