Tomorrow is a big day in the Canadian avalanche world
Tomorrow is a big day for Avalanche Canada. Friday, Nov 24 is the start of the forecasting season for 23/24. This will kick off Avalanche Canada's full season with adjusted regional forecasts. What does this mean for us the user? Well, now hazard ratings will follow storm cycles instead of arbitrary boundaries. Check it out as the season progresses and hopefully, it will make the hazard forecast more relevant to all users no matter where you live.Forecasts Start November 24
As you head out, remember that our early season forecasts are generally less certain because less field data is coming in from avalanche professionals. You can help our forecasters and fellow recreationists by contributing your observations to the Mountain Information Network. These reports help provide a more comprehensive picture of conditions and are valuable data sources.
We will continue to publish morning updates when overnight weather significantly deviates from expectations. Check the forecast in the morning, as it may change.
If you're heading out before forecasts start, our early season conditions page is an excellent resource to help you make informed decisions. The Dangerator can help you estimate the danger rating when no official forecast is available. Remember, if there's enough snow to ride, there's enough snow to slide
