2017 Lowa Boots & Shoes Sneak Peek - VIDEO
At Outdoor PressCamp last month I had the opportunity to text several brands of hiking boots on the trails of Deer Valley and one brand that stood out was Lowa. For 2017 they have a new line of alpine/climbing, backpacking and trekking shoes & boots for any adventure you may be planning. I was impressed by the quality of design and manufacturing and of course the out-of-the-box comfort.
Lowa was founded in 1923 and over the past nine decades they have amassed quite a bit of experience making shoes and boots. They’ve sold over two million pairs in over 40 countries and continue to make them 100% in Europe.
Below are some highlights from the new 2017 Lowa collection. Since all of these models will not be available until next year, details are limited but watch the video and have a read to learn more.
Lowa Alpine Pro GTX
This is Lowa’s flagship alpine boot which was developed in conjunction with their alpine team. It’s minimalist design combines light weight construction with stability. A Vibram sole provides good grip and comfort while the Gore-Tex fabric keeps you dry.
Lowa Approach Pro GTX Lo
If you don’t need a full-on alpine/climbing boot then the Approach Pro GTX Lo may for you. It’s designed in conjunction with Lowa’s athlete team and ideal for via ferrata and scrambling. It has an innovative double lace system which allows you to independently adjust the forefoot and rear-foot tension.
Lowa Irox GTX Mid
The Lowa Irox is a 100% vegan trekking boot (not that you would want to eat it) but no animal products are used in its construction. It was designed in conjunction with Ralf Dujmovits and provides stability and comfort in a light weight design.
Lowa Rocket
Yes, Lowa even makes rock climbing shoes. The Rocket is a high performance shoe ideal for bouldering and competitive climbing. The unlined leather uppers provides the comfort and breathability that Lowa is known for.
Lowa Aerox GTX Lo
The Aerox provides 360° of breathability by incorporating Gore’s Surround technology. This uses an open sole construction so your feet stay dry and comfortably cool even at higher temperatures. The midsole ventilation channels allow your feet to breath while still being fully waterproof and breathable. This lightweight athletic shoe is idea for day to day use around town and light hikes.
