Camelbak Fourteener Backpack

Last week at PressCamp in Deer Valley Utah I got the low down on Camelbak’s new Fourteener Backpack, which is named after the fourteen thousand foot peaks in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The pack boasts a long list of features such as an Air Support back panel for comfort and ventilation, Dual Wing Belt for increased pack compression and improved load carry, a Stretch Overflow Pocket on the back of the pack for those quick access items, a soft lined pocket for sunglasses and electronics and a trekking pole carry system.




The Camelbak Fourteener Backpack is available in both a 24L and 20L versions and both of course come with Camelbak’s famous Crux Reservoir. The Crux is one of the best hydration systems on the market today and has an easy open/close leak proof wide mouth cap, a built in reservoir baffle to retain it’s shape, a leak-proof on/off tube lever with built in quick link system and a large 'Hold-On Handle'. All Crux Reservoirs are of course BPA /BPS/BPF Free and are designed to seamlessly fit with all Camelbak packs.

After testing the Camelbak Fourteener 24 Backpack on a few short hikes and a very long mountain bike ride (aptly named “Wow”) which dropped over 4,000’ and left from the top of Deer Valley Ski Resort, I can honestly say that this pack is super comfortable, carries a load well and cinches down around your waste like no other pack I’ve tried. The Dual Wing Belt design is really innovative and not only makes the pack perform better but also provides room for stowing your poles and super large hip belt pockets. These are all huge plusses in my book.
