Sneak Peek: Elan's New Ripstick Black Edition 96 and the Ibex Carbon XLT Skis - VIDEO
Elan blew the doors off our expectation of how a lightweight, yet fat ski could perform inbounds and out. Their Ripstick 106 skis got high praise in this recent review and turned out to be one of the best skis we reviewed last season. To put it mildly, it was the sleeper hit of the year. For next season Elan is taking a great ski and making it even better with their new Ripstick Black Edition 96 Skis. These skis are built on the Ripstick 96 chassis, complete with their innovative Amphibio profile. This asymmetrical design has increased camber on the inside edge of the ski and increased rocker on the outside edge which provides stability and control along with maneuverability and float. This new Black Edition of the Ripstick 96 skis has an additional layer of carbon built into the skis, one is internal and the other is external.
Elan will also release the Ibex Carbon XLT Skis next fall. This is a lightweight high performing touring ski at 94 underfoot. The Ibex Carbon XLT has a Tubelight wood core with a very thin profile and is all wrapped up in a carbon PowerShell, this means you get Carbon from tip to tail. Elan uses Bridge Technology which is a 3D structural design that enhances the integrity of carbon and actually makes it stiffer and stronger. The Ibex Carbon XTL weighs only 1100g for the 170cm length ski.
