Sneak Peek: Hagan Core 12 Binding - VIDEO
Hagan has a new U-pin tech binding that they debuted at the Winter Outdoor Retailer Show in late January of this year. It’s called the Core 12 and is made for them by ATK. It’s a lightweight, high-performance binding that’s fairly rugged and reliable in design. Weighing in at only 350 grams (60 grams of this is the brake), the Core 12 is incredibly light for the features and performance it offers.
The innovative toe brake design is always active in both touring mode and ski mode, this means that if your skis comes off in either mode it will activate the brake and prevent them from running away.
There are five climbing positions on the heel piece of the Core 12, and each is magnetic so the risers will never flip back once set. An innovative idea that is so simple and effective. There is also a free ride spacer which provides solid boot sole contact so that you are not putting undue pressure on the pins when jumping or applying excessive force.
There is elasticity in the heel piece which allows the ski to flex naturally and with a wider mounting plate, the Core 12 can drive fatter skis. It can also accommodate a wide range of boot sizes with a 30mm adjustment. The DIN is 5-12 on the heel so it can handle aggressive skiers and lighter ones as well.
Stay tuned for a full review coming this fall.
