Helly Hansen Life Pocket - VIDEO
Helly Hansen, the Norwegian company started way back in 1877 by an entrepreneurial sea captain has many innovative firsts to their credit including the first fleece, first technical base layer and fist supple water-proof fabric—to name but a few. While all of these are impressive in their own right the one recent innovation that I find most impressive is the Life Pocket and the Life Pocket+. These technical pockets are found on most of Helly Hansen’s new jackets and use Primaloft insulation to keep smartphones and electronic devices charged longer. With Life Pocket, your smartphone stays two times warmer and with Life Pocket+ it’s three times warmer thanks to the PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Aerogel. Aerogel was developed by NASA to protect electronics in space and is the lightest solid material knows to man and a damn fine insulator. It’s highly porous and low density structure forms a thermal block which keeps cold at bay. It’s flexible, waterproof and lightweight so it’s ideal for lining a pocket with and what makes Life Pocket+ work so well.
Text, talk, surf, selfie-away, with Helly Hansen’s Life Pocket your phone will keep it’s charge so you have the option to use it when it really counts.
I tested the Life Pocket in Helly Hansen’s new Ridge Shell 2.0 Jacket and found that my phone did indeed last longer and the insulation also provided some needed padding to protect the phone incase of a fall. With a smartphone being a thousand dollar investment I want to ensure that it's protected and that the battery won’t die when I'm out skiing and Helly Hansen's Life Pocket is the ideal solution for this.
