Sneak Peek: Next Season’s New Blizzard Zero G Skis - VIDEO
For the 2019/20 ski season, Blizzard will be launching an entirely new line of Zero G skis that are more playful and forgiving while still being ridiculously light weight. Blizzard changed the construction of the Zero G skis so that the unidirectional carbon fibre is reduced in the tip and tail. This makes the skis softer lengthwise, especially in the tip and tail which means they’re more playful and responsive in tight challenging conditions and float better in deeper snow. By contrast the middle of the skis are designed to be more stable in variable conditions.
Backcountry Skiing Canada has been skiing the new Zero G 105 Skis for over a month now and we can’t get over how much Blizzard has improved them since we reviewed the Zero G 95’s a few years back. Not only are they lighter with more rocker, but they are now super playful and solid underfoot. The 105’s are a true backcountry ski that weights practically nothing yet can still tackle variable conditions and even rail the groomers at the resort. The new Zero G’s are a true one ski quiver.
The Blizzard Zero G’s come in 105, 95, 85mm widths with less rocker in each ski width as it narrows. For powder days the 105 is the ski of choice where as those that like to cover serious distance in the backcountry should opt for the 95 or even the 85 width to save even more weight.
