Sneak Peek: Next Season’s Scarpa F1 LT Boots - VIDEO
Scarpa is a huge brand in the alpine touring world with some of the best AT boots on the market and for next season they will be launching the successor to their popular ski-mountaineering race boot, the Scarpa Alien with their more versatile backcountry-oriented Scarpa F1 LT. The Scarpa F1 has been in the line-up for several years now and this new version is better than ever and also lighter!
Weighing in at just 990 grams, the new F1 LT Boots will have a 100 flex rating with an impressive 72° range of motion thanks to the friction-free ski/walk mechanism which is not only strong, quick and easy to use—but also reliable.
The new Scarpa F1 LT Boots use a Carbon Grilimid LFT material which is a combination of a Grilimid material infused with long carbon fibres to improve power and stiffness while still delivering a progressive flex. This material has a high power-to-weight ratio which is required to make the F1 LT Boots powerful yet light.
The upper cuff of the F1 LT Boots uses Scarpa’s 3D Lambda Torsion Frame which is a reinforced I-beam construction with raised ribs of Carbon Grilamid LFT for increased lateral stability and downhill performance without added shell thickness or weight.
On the lower boot over the forefoot, you’ll find a Boa Closure system which provides good foothold with a custom fit and no pressure points.
Built on a 100mm last, the Scarpa F1 LT Boots have an Intuition Liner and Integrated Recco Reflectors for added searchability.
Having skied the Scarpa F1 LT Boots at this Winter’s Outdoor Retailer Show in Denver Colorado, I can say that they offered up a comfortable fit and the weight to power ratio was truly impressive. I’m looking forward to spending more time in them soon so that I can put them through the paces and prepare a full review.
The F1 LT is Scarpa’s lightest weight alpine touring boot and will be available for Fall 2020 for $799US, if you are after a more robust and powerful all-mountain AT boot then consider the Maestrale XT Boots which they released last year.
