Next Season's Gear Sneak Peek: Black Diamond Skis - VIDEO
For 2015/2016 Black Diamond is bringing back the Carbon series of skis and introducing two new series, the Black Diamond Boundary series and the Black Diamond Link series.
The Carbon series is currently available and offers the 120mm underfoot Carbon Mega Watt, the 105 underfoot Carbon Convert, and the Aspect at 90mm under foot. Carbon sandwich construction makes these skis the lightest in Black Diamonds line and for the true light and fast backcountry skier.
New for Fall 2015 are the Black Diamond Boundary skis which are a more playful ski made for the freeride skier. They use a stiffer Poplar wood core ideal for inbounds and out of bounds skiing. Black Diamond offers the up the Boundary 115, Boundary 107 and the Boundary 90 skis.
Also new for next fall are the Black Diamond Links series of skis. They are available as the Black Diamond Link 90, Link 95 and Link 105. They use a paulownia wood core to make the ski light and at a lower price point than the carbon skis. These skis are ideal for the true backcountry skier who wants a lighter ski than the Boundary skis but doesn’t need to go as light as the Carbon series skis.
At the SIA show this winter we had the opportunity to ski the new Black Diamond Links 105 and the Black Diamond Boundary 107 skis. Both performed well on the variable snow conditions and in our limited testing. We’re hoping to get more time on both these skis so that we can prepare a proper review for you in the coming months.
