Next Season's Gear Sneak Peek: Scott Alpride Airbag System and Cascade 110 Skis
Scott is one of the biggest manufacturers of ski gear, not to mention bike, running and motosports gear as well. They design and manufacture ski, poles, pack, apparel, goggles, helmets, sunglasses, skins and of course ski boots having acquired Garmont a few years back. Two of next years products that most impressed us at the SIA show this winter were the Scott Alpride Airbag System and the Scott Cascade 110 Skis.
Scott Alpride Airbag System
Scott worked with a Swiss company called Alpride (established in 2009) to develop their new airbag system which just happens to be one of the lightest on the market. It uses C02 and Argon gas, to inflate the 150L airbag in just 3 seconds. It’s also airline travel friendly. It’s not only lightweight but has a pretty simple use-friendly design with a fast reinstallation and a relatively low cost. A stowable trigger, aluminum safety buckles on the chest and waist in combination with a leg loop provide security in the event of an avalanche.
Features:
- Alpride Airbag System compatible
- One main compartment
- Separate avalanche rescue equipment pocket for your probe and shovel
- Diagonal adjustable ski carry system
- Icetool/ Pole carry system
- Helmet attachment
- Ergonomically shaped backplate
- Hip belt with gear loop and pocket
- One-hand operated safety buckles on chest and waist straps

Scott Cascade 110 Skis
The new Scott Cascade 110 Skis are based off the company's Punisher ski but with a lighter core, carbon stringers, and integrated skin hooks (see the holes at the tip and tail of the skis). The sidecut design combines a tip and tail with a small amount of sidecut under foot. The tip and tail radii allow for easy turn initiation while the flat line (freeski) or a larger radius (all conditions) provides more stability, power and edge hold. The 3Dimension Sidecut utilizes two different forms, a centralized flat line for the freestyle and progressive oriented skier or a large radius under foot for an all condition skier looking for a more versatile, high-performing ski.
Weight: 1550g (175 cm)
Dimensions : 142/108/130
Radius: 11m
Features:
- Twin-Tip Rocker L which features rocker in both the tip and tail for float in deep snow
- Traditional camber underfoot maintains edge hold and stability
- 3Dimension Sidecut utilizes two different forms
- Full Ski-Length Wood Core for consistent ski flex and homogeneous transition between the middle of the ski and rockered tip and tail
- Factory Finish – skis come direct from the factory ready to ski with an effective edge angle of 88°, resulting from a 3° side and 1° base angle
- The base is finished with a micro structured CNC stone grind so you can mount your skis and hit the hill, no tuning required
- Skin Fixation System provides an easy and fast skin attachment in all weather conditions
- Sandwich Sidewall Construction Laminate Paulownia for lightness and efficiency, by combining a Paulownia wood core with carbon stringer laminates, creating a super lightweight ski with a great flex and torsional rigidity
- Also available in a 95 underfoot with the Scott Cascade 95 Skis
A pretty unique skin attachment system tip and tail.
