3rd Annual SROAMAZING RACE
Nelson BC is home to Selkirk College's Ski Resort Operation & Area Management Program which annually produces new backcountry enthusiasts and future industry leaders. As part of the course curriculium students are required to host an event. The SROAMAZING RACE is a scavenger hunt style race that includes photos, activities and items to gather and complete for a chance at winning big prizes! In support of the event, big name manufacturers and small town businesses pitch in what they can to help make the event a success. This year students gathered over $10,000 worth of prize donations, so it's safe to say everyone will be walking away with something.
I personally am hoping for one of four new pairs of Armada skis!
If you are in the Nelson area and want to participate, registration ends at 12pm at 708 Vernon Street (old Extra Foods building). Team of 4 is $20 and costumes are strongly advised. The race begins at 12:30pm sharp where participants will be running the streets searching for what they need to win new ski jackets, pants, hard goods, lift tickets… you name it!
Unselfishly the SROAM Program willl be donating all profits to the AABBS (Avalanche Awareness Beyond the Boundry Society) so new backcountry enthusiasts can acquire skills and knowledge of backcountry travel and safety.
