Outdoor community stepping up to face medical supply shortages
I need not describe the issue in detail as I'm sure everyone by now has heard about shortages of masks for medical professionals. Not surprisingly, but perhaps talked about less, is the need for eye protection.Photo courtesy of @gogglesfordocs.com.
Well outdoor enthusiasts are rising to the challenge and lending a hand where ever possible. Outdoor Research is one organization that is stepping up in a big way, converting it's Seatle based factory to comply with FDA Class II guidelines so it can start producing N95 and surgical masks. They are hoping to produce 200,000 masks a day by June! You can read more about that story on snewsnet.com.
Another group has stepped up to address the lack of eye protection for health care workers. Goggles for Docs is accepting donations of ski goggles to fill the gap in the supply of eye protection. You can check out their website gogglesfordocs.com, or their Instagram @gogglesfordocs.
