COMP - 60cm of powder for the new year in the Chic-Chocs
What a great way to celebrate the new year: A wonderfull day telemarking and skiing in 60cm of fresh powder snow in the Chic-Chocs moutains!
I have the chance to live in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, 30min from the Chic-Chocs mountains in Gaspésie, Québec, Canada. The moutains are about 1000m high right next to the sea, making a perfect spot for lots and lots of powder snow from december to april.
This fall, we were not really lucky regarding snow accumulations. We were really happy to see a big storm coming for the new year, 60cm of fresh pow, 1m in some areas! We decided to go skiing the "Champs de mars" in the "Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs". It's outside the Parc national de la Gaspésie so we can bring our dogs. The parking had a few cars in it and we met a small group from Montreal who were enjoying themselfves in the first field. We decided to head a little bit more east to the last field of snow. First track for everyone! We had a lot of fun doing our first turns of the season. See for yourselves in the following video:
