COMP - New Years 2013 at Wildhorse Lodge
This year I had the pleasure of ringing in 2013 with seven fantastic friends in the heart of the Kootenays. We stayed out at the Wildhorse Lodge, near Ymir BC. As the crow flies, we were within spitting of Nelson’s Whitewater Resort, but the two hour cat ride and half hour ski in to our hut guaranteed we didn’t see many other souls on skis for our five day stay.
With avalanche danger at triple green and sunny skies whenever we climbed above the valley fog, there was absolutely no shortage of great lines to pick off: alpine bowls, long steep tree lines and even some moonlit night skiing. We really couldn’t have imagined a better ski trip!
To top it off, we had the chance to peek into the Ymir Hotel at the start and end of our trip. If you are ever in that neck of the woods, definitely go check it out. Maybe even stay there a night instead of Nelson! The place is packed to the brim with personality, Hans will provide a delicious Nelson brew and you'll feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
Enjoy the video and the rest of the ski season!!
