We want to thank everyone who entered this years Expose Yourself Photo & Video Comp and congrats to the 4th place, 3rd place and 2nd place winners. It's now time to announce the winner of the grand prize from our friend the "Bald Bomber" at Mount Carlyle Backcountry Lodge:
WINNER #1: HELI IN/OUT MOUNT CARLYLE BACKCOUNTRY LODGE SKI WEEK FOR TWO PEOPLE. AND IT’S CATERED.
Mount Carlyle Lodge sits at 7200’ in the heart of the Kokanee Range in British Columbia’s World Famous Selkirk Mountains, this lodge is a gateway to some seriously sick terrain. Prize is valid any time during the 2013/2014 season (depending on availability).
Congrats goes to 'georgeoulton' for their entry entitled "Backcountry Dreaming".
This entry is a fun video of why the backcountry is beautiful for more than just the standard reasons of deep pow and blue bird skies.
"Travelling through the backcountry is like moving through a dream. Images and sounds are constantly interpreted and expressed, I'm overthrown with rich experience. For me the experience compiles into a vague memory of what actually took place.
Sometimes the sounds are so large that my brain just can't take it all in and only a muted vision remains. Sometimes the snow is so crisp that even the slightest movement seems to trumpet down the whole valley. Some landscapes are so stunning that I can't resist the opportunity of another cliche photo of some guy and a beautiful backdrop for my mother. Whoops and yodels hang in air as they whisk by leaving only tracks in the snow and the allure of better turns just over yonder.
Terrible moments have slapped me in the face as loved one's are seemingly eaten by the clouds, while great moments have shone brilliant as the sun during it's hypnotic evening dance. Sometimes I wonder what's going to happen, but sometimes I know exactly how incredible it's going to be. Sometimes I am relentless on my legs, while at other times I am content to just remain still.
I'm not sure what makes it all so damn beautiful though. I made this little clip in an attempt to express that the backcountry is beautiful not for just one reason, but for all it's equally beautiful little individual reasons.
Enjoy!"
