It's snowing!
Although the snowy mountains in Australia are not as high nor as long a vertical as we have here in western North America they still provide some decent skiing - in July and August.
Things typically get going around the middle of June down under but Thredbo and Perisher are both reporting early season snow and cold temps which are allowing the resorts to start making snow for the coming summer,... er, winter season.
Here's a look at a few of teh resorts's web cams:
Thredbo – The highest skiing and longest runs in Australia.
Vertical Rise: 2205 ft
Base Elevation: 4478 ft/1365 m
Summit Elevation: 6683 ft/2037 m
Annual Snowfall: 102 inches
Projected Opening: June 8, 2013
Perisher Blue – Australia’s largest ski area covering 1,250 hectares.
Vertical Rise 1407 ft
Base Elevation 5266 ft/1605 m
Summit Elevation 6673 ft/2034 m
Annual Snowfall 83 inches

If you are in Oz for the ski season post some pics back of the conditions so we can all be jealous.
