Esplanade Epic 2011
The Esplanade Range will play host to a fully sanctioned SkiMo Racing event taking place on April 16-17th, 2011. The "Epic" is the final event of the arduous Ski Mountaineering Race 2010/11 seasonThis year, only 50 racers will get a chance to compete in this human powered event. Just like last year the Epic will feature 3 race categories; Gnarly, Uber and Elite. The Gnarly event will be 1000 vertical feet longer than last season promising great racing for all abilities. The Uber race course will also be expanded to include more vertical and new terrain. The Elite course is expected to be at least 6500' vertical designed to seriously challenge the stamina of those currently on the circuit
The first day will be spent going over safety procedures and equipment checks. After a hearty dinner and good night's sleep the Epic will commence @ 9AM Sunday April 17th. Immediately after the race all competitors will be flown back to a flight facility and parking staging area alongside the Trans Canada Highway 50 kilometers west of Golden BC
