April 03 - White Queen
With new snow and no sun for the last few days White Queen was looking superb.
We hiked to the rigde from the top of Nugget which skips the traverse on the usual trail that starts above Silver Ledge.
The wind affect toward the top was obvious so we dropped in shy of the peak, avoiding the open areas to keep it safe. It was one creamy turn after another in the trees. White Queen truly lived up to her name until we were just over half way down. At that point we discovered she was really a crusty old hag with a lot of make up on. It seems the sun had had it's way with her a few days before and there just wasn't enough fresh to cover the damage. We cut left and hit the cat track back into Whitewater, saving ourselves the grief.
Was well worth it though!
