Digging to China
Wow I felt like I was going to have to dig to China to find at facet layer today. But I finally found it down at 100cm,, I have to get a longer shovel handle. We dug a pit at the top of Asodophilus (sp ???) and did a quick test to see what was going on. I do have to say that there is a ton of snow above this layer +100cm of mostly 4F to 1F density but was happy to see a CTE8 (PC) on the storm snow interface down 49cm and then a CTM4 (RP) on the facet layer and on the surface hoar layer down 72. (I do say "happy" as on Sunday I got a CTE1 on this facet layer so CTM4 is happy..) Otherwise road our line trouble free, playing it very safe only going 100m before leap frogging and staying in the trees all the way down. Oh yea the skiing was pretty good too...
FYI on my notes they are only from one very select area and the observations are only hasty pits so be sure to always do your own tests and make your own observations. Hopefully these notes are just one small piece in a very large puzzle.
Cheers enjoy Cold Smoke coming to WH2O this weekend...
