much touring around Abbotsford?
Looking into moving, small chance we could end up in Abbotsford. Anyone know about the local touring scene? within 1-2 hour drive from town

2010-11-02 23:54:25I think Manning Park has a little ski hill and lots of great peaks around that area - therefore lots of backcountry touring options, is that close enough to Abbotsford? -

2010-11-10 14:01:40Check out Baldwin's book - he's got some good info on a few interesting spots closer than Manning/Coquihalla, although those 2 are definitely worth the short drive.

There is a fair bit of touring around Abby, check out the Chiliwack valley (Mt Cheam hangs right over the valley....) There are plenty of trips that will take you into the border country (Canadian Border Peak, Redoubt, Slesse).
Best of all, the Coq highway is a great way to start nice & high, lots of great trips out there, enough to keep you busy all winter.
Garibaldi park is just 2 hrs away (in good traffic), and the rest of the Squamish area is all go.
