COMP -DEEP POW ON DUFFY
Well, Here on the coast range of BC we have had an exellent few days. The last week of Februray 2012 has been all time as many would say. Lots of storm snow and it has been cold and created deep powder skiing conditions.
What a great time to hit up some classic big mountain lines off the duffy.. Where? How about Mt. Matier the highest peak around..... then throw in Mt. Howard a sweet 3500 ft descent from alpine to valley. Ok, Sounds good to me I am In.
We started the day off really early. Skied the Easty face of mt. Matier, and then found the deepest snow of the day on the glacier, same aspect and elevation as the aniversary glacier(which we skied later that day), but one valley over. Due to the avalanche conditions, we had to ski carefuly, with ski cuts and sluff mangament. Some text book cuts on rope... Then we headed to the east col of Howard for the Gem run to the valley.
Sweet day. Thanks Pete, Nico, Russell, and Nick.
Deep DAZE Nico wishing he had a snorkel....
Some warming sluff rips down Mt. Howard as Peter skis the East Chute off the face of Howard...
Looking back on the line downE Face of Mt. Matier....
Twin One glacier and Mt. Matier one of the jaw dropping spots in BC....

Another deep day on th coast range of bc, no rain, just pow, good lines and fun times....
