COMP- Tripple Crown on DUFFY (MSJ)
Well When it's sunny in the Coast range of BC one has to take advantage of the good visibility. Last week we had great sunny days and good stability. What to do? We decided to hit up the tripple crown off the duffy lake road. The gems of the area... What might they be.... Matier, Slayok, and Joffree in a day! The three jewels on a crown with the NW of Joffree as the icing on the cake. (Rated in the top 50 runs in North America by Chris Davenport, see book) So we set out early and hit up the SW of Matier, then the stone crop North facing line, weaved our way back up through the Matier ice fall and up the Aussie Couilor to the NW face to Couilor of Joffree. Any ski line off the Norht side of Joffree deserves a try. Sweet snow to the Cerise trailhead.
With the shorter days the timing just worked out. We skied off the face of Joffree as the sun was setting. We lucked out to have a boot pack set by a group of two earlier in the day but they only went half way up the Aussie Couilor. Awesome day, snow better than ast year when we did it. and good friends enjoying the backcountry of BC. Thanks to my hommies, Nick, Santi, Evan and Peter.
