First night of winter camping of the season! Cayoosh Mountain
On the weekend we decided to head out for a short trip on the skis and some winter camping. Mike had some new touring boots that he wanted to test out and I was anxious to just get out for some mountain time.
Wet gear, -12C, thinly covered rocks + branches.. early season winter camping is fun .. right?
I wore a first layer, primaloft jacket, and down jacket to bed.. and a fur hat (don't worry people it's not real fur).. plus another person and a 65 pound dog in our tiny alpine tent.. and I was still freezing. Somehow in my memory though, I had a lot of fun and will definitely head out again soon. A little suffering is part of it sometimes right?
This was at the start.. you can see the Duffy Lake Road just below. With the 3 day weekend, there were a ton of cars and trucks scattered all along the road looking for adventures. We parked near the bottom of Mt Rohr and Cayoosh Mountain, and headed up into the snow.
Cayoosh Mountain is in the background. The snow coverage wasn't great yet, but hey, it's only the start of November.
Above, my two best friends. The dog has his own backpack to carry his food. On the way home he carries the garbage - perfume to a dog.
And last one, here I am sleepy but happy. In my mind it's always better to be out there than to not be out there. Down booties are now on my xmas wish list for santa.
