Joffre Lakes in Summer: Trail Report
It's been a while since I wrote about Joffre Lakes on Trail Tuesday. I had a great day here with my dog, and wanted to share some photos.
The trail is still under construction past the first big boulder field, so you'll be following the existing route up through rocks, roots and a whole lot of mud. I arrived back at the truck with mud up to my knees and the dog was completely covered, so gators would be a smart idea.
There's no snow anywhere on the trail, and it's also completely disappeared from the lake area. We hiked up the faint trail past the campground to just under the cliff bands above the lake, then down to the waterfall. Heading up above the lake is a good idea if the crowds make you anxious, as this is one well loved place during summer, especially on a sunny holiday weekend. We were completely alone past the campground, and watched as short rain storms blew through, followed by patches of sunshine.
No matter what the month or season or weather, Joffre Lakes never disappoints. It's one of my favorite places, and it's got to be one of the most beautiful spots anywhere in the Sea to Sky area.
Happy Canada Day!
