Summit Access by 4x4! Another adventure at Blowdown Pass.
I had some major cabin fever after coming off an injury this summer, and was anxious to tag off a peak somehow. Still not quite healed enough for a valley to summit hike, we decided to drive most of the way up the mountain and hike the last 1000ft to Gott Peak. Hey, you do what you have to do right?
Leaving from Pemberton, we climbed 6400 feet in my 21 year old Toyota, up some pretty extreme 4x4 roads to reach Blowdown Pass. Who says girls can't drive stick? Ha.
Here I am at the pass, in Blackie my truck.
I know I've said it before in other Tuesday hiking posts, but this is one of my favorite areas in the coast mountains. It is just so incredibly beautiful in every direction. This is the view looking back - you can see the road faintly on the right and a gorgeous alpine lake below.
Here are the summits of Gott and Gotcha peaks, AND my first real summit adventure in a while. This trip was the perfect medicine, combined with a great night of camping with Mike and our dog.
If you don't feel like banging the hell out of your truck, you can always park down in the forest and walk up the road as well. However you get here, it's a really incredible destination. A++ in my books.
