37.5 technology
I know what you’re thinking, what the heck is 37.5, And furthermore does it really work? Well, I can attest to its success at keeping you more comfortable as I was just hiking in the Grand Canyon in 45°C heat and the shirt I was wearing had 37.5 in it. While I still got hot (obviously) I did feel less uncomfortable than I would have been with a shirt without 37.5. While the fabric that the 37.5 technology is used with plays a big part in how effective it works, given that merino wool performs much better than polyester at keeping you cool and stink free the 37.5 technology definitely still makes a noticeable difference. In the Grand Canyon I wore a Rab MeCo120 Layback Tee which was 65% Merino Wool and 35% Polyester and even in that extreme heat I didn’t sweat out the shirt, it didn’t smell as bad and I was able to wear it longer over more days than just a standard merino blend shirt which I compared it to on subsequent days.So how does it work? 37.5 uses active particles to capture and release moisture vapour as required to maintain the relative humidity and temperature regulation in the micro climate between you and your clothing. This helps control your body’s core temperature which in turn makes you more comfortable and thus can help you perform better. There’s a lot of science behind 37.5 to prove that it works (I’m talking experiments in a controlled environment with sensors in the clothing to measuring water vapour) all I know is that I feel more comfortable and less sweaty wearing a shirt with this technology in it. 37.5 is available in clothing, footwear, and bedding so if you see some apparel or products with 37.5 in it, give them a try and see what you think.
