Sneak Peek: Next Season's Atomic Hawx UL XTD 130 Boots
One boot for both backcountry and the resort?
Next season’s Atomic Hawx UL XTD 130 Boots just arrived at Backcountry Skiing Canada HQ and we’re excited to get them out in the snow. Atomic has labelled this their new “crossover ski boot”. While the Hawx has been Atomic’s go-to all-mountain boot, the new UL XTD’s freeride touring capabilities are said to provide the one boot that can do it all. Taking cues from Atomic’s ultra light Backland boot such as the Freelock 2.0 walk/ski mechanism, the Hawk UL XTD offers up a very respectable 54° of cuff rotation and weighs a scant 1.42kg. A full Grilamid shell and Dynafit Tech Inserts are but a few of the features of this new boot.
Atomic has strived to combine the best of their alpine and backcountry knowledge and design into a single boot and we’re going to put it through the paces this spring, so stay tuned for a full review to follow.
