Avalanche Airbags Now Key Safety Equipment

According to a new article by Powder, avalanche airbags are now considered key pieces of backcountry safety equipment. Airbags have been on the market since the 80's, however the days of single-use cylinders are a distant memory. Another traditional con - pack weights - have also gone down significantly. Costs are still almost triple a non-airbag pack however, but as the stigma begins to change skiers will most likely begin to view them more as an investment in their safety and less in a superfluous accessory.
