Sneak peek at next year’s gear: BCA Float 2.0 Packs
Backcountry Access (BCA) has been in the avalanche airbag game for several years now but not wanting to rest on their laurels they have two new Float 2.0 Packs available for the 2017/18 season. The Speed 17 and Speed 27 use BCA’s new smaller and lighter air bag system. The cylinder is 1/3 smaller than the one used in the current system and uses a new injector system and a higher pressure of 3,000psi. The entire airbag system is self-contained in the pack so it does not get in the way with your gear storage. Overall the new BCA Speed 17 and BCA Speed 27 avalanche air bags are a full pound lighter.
You can see the difference in cylinder sizes in the photo below, from right to left, are the BCA 2.0 cylinder, the current BCA 1.0 cylinder, and the Mammut cylinder.
