Hi 'babenders', the old debate of light weight versus ski-ability is a tough one and really comes down to personal preference. I have skied many skis which were super light weight but then too light when conditions were not ideal (meaning powder). I have since ensured my personal touring ski is a little heavier so that they can ski anything in bounds and out, as some times you need to access terrain from within a resort, or ski back in bounds if you are lapping via the chair lift. The V6 is a very competent resort ski that just happens to be on the edge of what I would consider to be light enough to classify as a touring ski, given its width. While we have not reviewed the DPS Wailer tour1 99, we have reviewed the fatter DPS 112RP2 Tour1 skis
here. Compare this review with that of the
Voile V6 Ski review here. As you can see these skis were awarded our Gear of the Year award two seasons ago, so there is naturally plenty of positive things to say about these skis.
The choice comes down to what you really want, an easier up or more enjoyable down. Give our reviews a read and check out our
ski comparison chart here and then let us know what you decide.
