2024 Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis - Video Review
We first reviewed the Blizzard Zero G 95 Skis in 2016 and then in 2019, we reviewed the Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis with their new Carbon Drive 2.0 construction. These skis impressed us so much that we awarded them our prestigious Gear of the Year Award and they became our go-to touring ski for many years to come. Fast forward to 2023 and Blizzard has once again improved the Zero G 105 Skis, this time with an updated Carbon Drive 3.0 construction. There is now a full length 3D shaped unidirectional carbon fibre chassis running through the entire length of the ski, combined with an ultra-light paulownia wood core in the Zero G 85 and 95 versions and a Beech/Poplar core in the Zero G 105 Skis. This build is super light and still provides the necessary structure for an impressive performance in any snow conditions. This Carbon Drive 3.0 construction provides optimal torsional rigidity and flex which makes the skis fun yet forgiving. The enhanced power transmission and edge grip allow them to be carved on hardback snow while still floating on deeper days thanks to their fat 105 underfoot width and rocker/camber/rocker profile. The Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis are impressively with so they won’t slow you down on the skin track which is why we mounted them with Marker’s super-light Alpinist 12 tech bindings. This keeps the entire setup super light so you can ski more vertical, go farther afield and still have gas in the tank for one more lap.
While the Blizzard Zero G 105’s are our touring ski of choice they are also available in a 95 and 85 version for those who want something even lighter or ski in areas where there are not as many deep days in the backcountry.
Blizzard has taken a great ski and made it even better and I can’t recommend the new 2024 Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis enough.
