Dynafit Transalper Light Hoody Review
Summer Mini-ReviewsRather than go on and on about a piece of gear, we’ve prepared these mini-reviews to quickly illustrate what we like or dislike about a piece of gear that you might be in the market for. These are quick-read-format reviews that won’t take more than a couple of minutes to read so that you can quickly get up to speed on the good, the bad and the ugly of gear we’ve tested.
Dynafit’s Transalper Light Hoody may just be the perfect layer for mountaineering, trail running in Summer and ski touring in Winter. It's warm, yet breathable and minimally designed so it’s super light and packs down to nothing when not needed. Made with Polartec Power Grid recycled fabric, the Transalper Light Hoody can trap in body heat thanks to the fabric’s tiny air pockets created by the Powergrid weave. Yet air can easily pass through the fabric so excess heat is vented when you don’t want to overheat. The Polartec Fine Grid and Power Grid fabric is made from 89% Polyester and 11% Elastane so it helps transport moisture away from your skin and dries quickly. The close-fitting design is lightweight and thin with a fitted hood and elastic cuffs and hem which makes the Transalper Light Hoody more comfortable to wear. There are two roomy stash pockets on the front to warm up your hands or to stow smaller items you might need access to on the trail. The full front zip adds to the versatility of the Transalper Light Hoody and makes it a true four-season mid or outer layer for any adventure.

The Dynafit Transalper Light Hoody has fast become one of my favourite layers for cool spring mornings on the hiking trail or high alpine runs when the wind picks up. Thanks to its Polartec Power Grid fabric the Transalper Light Hoody is not only comfortable next to my skin and warm, but it still allows airflow so I don’t overheat easily and the fact that it is made from recycled fibres makes it even better. I’m looking forward to ski season as I think this will be a great mid-layer for ski touring as well—making it a true four-season hoody!

- Light and minimal design.
- Packs down to nothing.
- Warm, yet breaths to ensure you don’t overheat.
- Zippered pockets would be nice to safely secure items.
