Jack Wolfskin and Dean Cummings
At PressCamp in Deer Valley Utah last week I got to spent some time talking with Dean Cummings about a relatively new brand to this side of the pond, Jack Wolfskin.
Jack Wolfskin is a high end European outdoor adventure brand and a leading provider of functional outdoor apparel, footwear and equipment. The company was founded in 1981 in Frankfurt Germany and recently started selling their products in North America in 2015. Dean Cummings is one of their spokesperson and sponsored athletes, Dean of course is a founding father of extreme skiing and owner of H20 Guides in Alaska.
In 2012 a 45 yr old Cummings won the prestigious Powder Award for the Best line down Meteorite Mountain’s Dragon’s Back which is a 50-to 60-degree spine with 3,000 feet of exposure. So Dean knows a thing or two about skiing and great apparel, his kit of choice is the new Jack Wolfskin Exolite Mountain Jacket which uses TEXAPORE AIR+ fabric that’s windproof/waterproof and is approved by the Alpine School of Innsbruck. If it’s good enough for Dean then it’s gotta be good.
The other innovation that stood out was Jack Wolfskin’s new ECO product series. These products use TEXAPORE ECOSPHERE and consist of a 100% recycled membrane, a 100% recycled outer fabric and a 100% recycled lining. This enables Jack Wolfskin to be the first outdoor apparel manufacturer to employ a zero-waste approach in manufacturing a fully recycled waterproof/breathable membrane. Jack Wolfskin combines innovation with an environmental conscience to produce some pretty innovative outdoor apparel.
