New K2 2024/25 Skis - VIDEO
New from K2 for the 2024/25 Ski season is the all-new Omen Skis which are a freestyle-specific ski, as well, the more freeride Reckoner Ski line which is fully revamped with all-new construction with an enhanced surfy feel. Athlete "Crazy Karl" Fostvedt designed the Reckoner KF, a new pro-model ski built for his playful approach to the biggest lines on the mountain. He also has his name on the all-new Revolve KF, one of the stiffest FL3X boots K2 has ever made. All updated skis for Winter 2024/25 are now constructed with BioResin, a proprietary plant-based formula that is high-performing and more sustainable than oil-based resins. For those into ski touring, the K2 Wayback & K2 Mindbender Skis remain in the line up. The Mindbender uses two different constructions, Titanal Y-Beam and Spectral Braid. With Spectral Braid technology K2 can torsionally tune the skis from tip to tail. A tighter carbon weave in the tips helps to initiate the turn with precision and as the weave loosens over the length of the skis it becomes more forgiving. The Titanal Y-Beam is K2’s metal laminate construction and more or less achieves the same thing but with a layer of Titanal that is on the ski’s edges in the forebody of the ski and then edge to edge underfoot and then located just in the middle of the ski’s tails.
K2’s Spectral Braid construction is more fun, playful and poppy whereas the Titanal Y-Beam option is more damp, with a quieter ride that can plow through snow more effectively. Titanal has long been used in hard-charging skis and is known for providing a damp, stable ride at high speeds and on variable terrain. The Mindbender Skis come in 89, 99, and 109 Titanal versions and 90, 96, 106, and 116 Spectral Braid options.
For backcountry skiers, the K2 Wayback is a more dedicated touring ski which is much lighter for uphill travel while still providing the performance and float on the down.
