Salomon/Atomic Introduce New Shift2 Bindings for 2024/25 Season
Amersports which owns Salomon and Atomic introduced the original Shift in 2018 as the world’s first binding with full touring and freeride capability in one. The Shift Bindings have pin binding with tech inserts for climbing uphill, and they are also a genuine freeride binding with TÜV certified alpine toe and heel pieces for performance on the downhill. Compatible with all ISO normed alpine and touring boots on the market, the Shift Bindings soon became the choice for freeride touring skiers who want the versatility and reliability of a touring and free ride binding in one.Six years, countless hours on skin tracks and millions of vertical meters later, the new Shift2 builds upon this foundation, vastly improving the original design based on rigorous testing and feedback from elite athletes. The new Shift2 Binding is the next level freeride touring binding, ensuring even greater performance and reliability in the most demanding conditions.
Compared with the original Shift, the Shift2 boasts a couple of important updates. At the heart of the Shift2’s design is a focus on robust precision and maximized durability. The new micro-adjustable AFD features a single-block aluminum insert located inside, integrally supporting the AFD while allowing micrometric up and down adjustment via a central screw for an extremely precise fit with the boot interface. The result is a binding with 30% more lateral stiffness in the toe for superior power transfer. In addition, the updated, oversized wings and toe lever deliver greater reinforcement for improved shock resistance, durability, and reliability. A redesigned brake lever provides a more reliable locking function and eliminates unintentional release while the updated climbing aid adds 4mm of lift. Like its predecessor, the Shift2 features a revolutionary hybrid ski/walk function for pin binding mobility on the way up and alpine stability on the way down.
