New Ski Boot Company Phaenom Prelaunch
It's been a while since a new boot company launched. When the press release hit the Backcountry Skiing Canada email, we were understandably a little intrigued. Then we found out that the boot company was a part of Full Stack co, who are responsible for Faction skis. That made us excited as well as interested.Phaenom Footwear have two new boots they are prelaunching this winter in a small run of sizes. There is a Freestyle boot called the FS 01 120 ( this will eventually come in other flexes) which is an alpine boot that they say is designed to "achieve flex perfection and shock absorption whether buttering rollers or stomping landings in the park."
We are a little more backcountry focused here, unsurprisingly. Their other offering, the FR 01 130 looks like an interesting touring boot on first view. With tech binding inserts, Phaenom tells us this boot is "designed for riders who set their own tracks and follow their own flow". That sounds like us. Phaenom only has specific sizes until the spring, in anticipation of a full launch winter 24/25, so expect to see these in North America next winter. By then we should have had a chance to get these on our feet, so keep an eye out for our review!
Here are the tech specs for the FR 01 130:
Flex: 130
Shell weight: 1580g
Liner weight:550g
Last 102mm
