Sneak peek at next year’s gear: Salomon X Alp Skis & MTN Binding
Salomon is on a bit of a tear for the 2017/18 season with the announcement of the Salomon X-Alp Boot that we talked about over here and now the Salomon MTN Binding and Salomon X-Alp skis. Let's dig in.
Salomon’s new S/LAB X-Alp skis have been created specifically for adventure ski touring with big days in the backcountry or multi-day traverses. At just 950 grams per ski, they are ski is extremely light but also extremely stable thanks to their full wood core made of lightweight Karuba wood with thin ply reinforcements of basalt/fibreglass. Koroyd is used in the tip to not only increases dampening and shock absorption but also increase its agility while cutting weight.

Salomon MTN Binding
Salomon’s new MTN tech binding is not only lightweight, reliable and strong, it’s also super simple to use. There is no need to turn the heel to manipulate the climbing aids and the integrated Step-in Aid properly positions your toe to avoid that multiple-try step in. The MTN Binding has three heel riser positions: flat with the breaks up at 3°, the first riser at 7° and the second riser at 12° for steeper climbs. You can use a lightweight brake with the MTN or a leash to keep things even lighter.
