Scarpa F1 Alpine Touring Boots
We liked the previous iteration of the Scarpa F1, the Scarpa F1 Evo, so much we gave it our Gear of the Year award. We reviewed it over here. Unfortunately the boot was recalled (swiftly and efficiently, I might add) due to an issue with the "evo" feature that automatically put you in downhill mode when you clicked into the heel pins of a tech binding.The new version, known simply as the F1, does away with the evo feature and has an exterior ski/walk lever--no auto function. I'm 100% OK with this because the boot's benefits lie in features other than the auto/evo. It's remarkably light, bedroom-slipper-comfortable and stiff enough to drive a DPS Wailer 112 RP Tour1. We shot a couple videos of the new (and we think better) F1.
