ABS Pack - Soapbox
Just got a chance to take the ABS airbag pack out for a spin and can say I was impressed. I looked at a lot of airbags out there and it seems the two front runners right now are Mammut and ABS. Overall I choose ABS but both are probably quite good for the $s. What I liked about the the ABS were the following
1. Interchangeable packs from 30L to 55L
2. Summer harness so my pack does not need to sit all summer long
3. Dual airbag system so if one is punctured you still have something.
4. Easy pull trigger that can be fully disengaged for helo transport.
5. Good fitting pack I used both the small frame size and the large and boy does the large fit well.
6. Lots of features on the pack, good helmet carrying system and lots of pockets for small stuff.
7. Like the avie tool packet but could use more sleeves to organize things better.
8. Ski attachment on the sides worked well and did not loosen off.
9. Overall setup of the pack was quick and easy to understand.
What I feel could be done better or just a con.
1. Avie tool pockets as mentioned above.
2. Longer zipper to access the pack from the side.
3. Expensive
4. Expensive and not easy to refill canisters as they need to be sent away and are classed dangerous goods.
But all being equal you can't go wrong here a good pack by people who know what they are doing. Check'm out at https://www.abs-airbag.com/us/ to find out more.
