Fritschi Freeride Pro Query
Just acquired a brand spanking new pair of Volkl Gotamas (plastic wrapper still on!) and will probably look to mount the Fritschi's on them. Have several iterations of the freerides, just wondering if anyone has had a look / had experience with the new Freeride Pro they have released. I understand a modified pivot system. I am also looking at the crampon system that can be fitted permanently and flicked down with the pole.

2010-11-02 23:53:06I got the freeride plus last year and they are super strong [and heavy] but the only flaw I hope that they corrected in the pro version is the very soft heel piece contact point - this is where the heel piece on the boot end of things meets the heel piece on the ski. It is made of very soft plastic and you gouge it away very easily [especially if there is a little snow on the bottom of your boot as you fix yer' heel back dow for ski mode].
Oh yeah, and also fix the heel piece as snow and ice accumulate in there when in walk mode and you have to scrape the hell out of it to lock your heel back down for ski mode - bad design.
Dynafit here I come.
