MSR Avalanche Tools from OR in SLC
We just flew in from SLC and boy are our arms tired (I think I used that one last year). Amongst the boatload of gear at the massive Outdoor Retailer (OR) we saw some new stuff from Mountain Safety Research. They used to make avalanche tools in the 70s and have only just this year started making them again. Perhaps, in part, due to the new-found popularity of all things "backcountry." These items looks nice. Smart, well made and at a reasonable price point. We may try and get our hands on them to learn more...
Here are the three new shovels
Four new poles
And two new saws--one for snow study (primarily), the other, bigger one, for building snow structures. Oh, and there's a snow fluke too!
