Next Seasons Gear Sneak Peek: Volkl Skis & Marker Kingpin Binding
At the SIA Show in early February we met with Marker/Volkl to take a closer look at their new Marker Kingpin AT binding and the touring specific Volkl BMT skis. We have been skiing on the Marker Kingpin for just over a month now and are working on completing our review in the coming weeks. We can honestly say that Marker has a solid winner with the Kingpin. If you are not familiar with the Kingpin have a watch of the video below to better understand the advantages of this innovative tech binding. The binding retails for $645 Canadian and is available in DIN ranges of 5-10 and 6-13. It weighs in at only 730 grams and is the first DIN ISO Certified tech binding in the world!

The heel piece is more alpine binging in styling but it still offers the 3 climbing positions of 0°, 7‚ and 13°.
On the Volkl Ski front, the Volkl Vwerk Katana will get a cosmetic upgrade from black to white and the Volkl MBT touring series skis will remain the same. We are currently reviewing the Volkl Vwerk Katana Skis and are impressed by how well this ski takes on any terrain, especially considering how wide it is under foot and light and thin it is. Keep an eye out for that review soon.
