Next years Osprey Kode 42 ABS Airbag at winter OR - VIDEO
Osprey is getting into avalanche air bags in a big way coming fall 2014 and we have the video from Outdoor Retailer 2014 to prove it. Their highly popular Kode 42 litre backcountry skiing specific pack is now ABS compatible. Osprey didn't just stuff an ABS airbag system into the Kode, they thought about how to make the Kode more versatile for the average backcountry skier. The ABS system is actually a zip in system that is self contained within the pack harness system and is easily removable.
Skiing simple terrain on a a low danger day and don't want an avalanche airbag? Simply ski with the regular harness system with no ABS airbag. Heading into a backcountry lodge for a week with high avi danger and complex terrain? Zip out the standards harness system and zip in the ABS harness system that is completely self contained. In a matter of seconds you have transformed your Osprey Kode 42 from a ski touring pack into an ABS avalanche airbag.
Its simple, fast and versatile with all the great features of the regular Kode pack, which we already reviewed over here.
We are currently skiing this season with next years Osprey Kode 42 ABS bag so we'll have a full report for you prior to next season. Watch the video below for a full demo of the Kode 42 ABS pack.
