Next years Outdoor Research Gear @ the Winter OR Show
Outdoor Research has always been a backcountry skiers go-to gear supplier and for fall 2014 they are bringing a whole heap of new products to a retailer near you. We got the inside scoop on many of the new products at this winter's Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City a few months back. We wanted to share a few highlights with you:
Outdoor Research Super Layer Jacket
The name says it all, the "OR Super Layer Jacket". This is a synthetic puffy jacket with built in moisture transport and air permeability so its perfect for those high energy winter activities like ski touring. It uses Primaloft Silver Insulation Hi-Loft which is a continuous-filament insulation that stays in place with out the need for extra construction techniques. Mid layer, external layer, warmth, wind resistance and breathability, it sounds like it does it all. Look for this jacket in the fall retailing for $225 US.
Outdoor Research Trickshot Jacket
Waterproof softshell is the next big thing and Outdoor Research is leading the charge. The Trickshot Jacket is a skier focussed jacket that uses a new softshell Pertex Shield+ fabric that OR had a big hand in creating with Pertex. It offers up all the stretch and breathability we all love from a softshell but combines a Pertex laminate and grid fleece backing to keep you warm and dry at the same time. Crossflo zippers provide quick ventilation and an included, yet removable powder skirt helps keep the snow out. A helmet compatible hood and internal shove-It pocket round things out. For the backcountry skiers version of this jacket look to the new Trailbreaker Jacket and the revamped Trailbreaker Pants for fall 2104 as well. The Trickshot jacket will retail for $425 and the Trailbreaker jacket for $250.
Outdoor Research Altiheat Gloves
Cold Hands? Check out the Outdoor Research Altiheat Gloves which reportedly provide 61% more power output that competitor's gloves and also provide twice as much heated surface area. This all equals a warm, if not hot handed experience. Battery power keeps the heat flowing all day to any of the three gloves and mitts in the OR collection.
We are aiming to get our hands on at least a few of these new Outdoor Research products so look for a full review in our gear review section this fall.
