NOW Energy Bars
NOW stands for "No Opportunity Wasted" which is the principle of living each day as if it were your last. This is the slogan of Phil Keoghan who is the host of the popular TV show The Amazing Race. This summer Phil teamed up with Europa Sports for guidance on how to bring a new energy bar to market.
Phil was looking for an all natural high-protein bar which would provide him with the correct nutrition he required for his busy schedule. He found the answer in Manuka Honey from his homeland of New Zealnad. It's a natural preservative with touted "special medicinal properties" and provides bounds of energy. They also contain white chia seeds which help regulate electrolytes.
Phil's NOW Energy bars are gluten free and have a 4:1 carb to protein ration, they are also endorsed by Jordan Romero the youngest person to climb the seven summits.
We sampled three flavours of NOW Energy Bars, Honeycomb with Chia & Raisins, White Chocolate with Fruit & Nut and Peanut & Caramel. Like most energy bars we found them to be super sweet with 5 grams of sugar per 20 gram portion and not all of this from the Manuka Honey. The ingredient list was long but most of them we could pronounce (which is always a good thing) but wonder if so many are necessary to keep it "All Natural".
